Understanding time tracking in SimplyManage
Overview
Time tracking is at the heart of SimplyManage. Our time tracking features are designed to be simple yet powerful, allowing you to focus on your work while accurately recording your time.
Tracking Methods
SimplyManage offers multiple ways to track your time:
Real-Time Timer
The primary method for tracking time is the real-time timer. Start it when you begin working and stop it when you're done. The timer:
- Runs continuously until stopped
- Shows elapsed time in the header
- Can be paused and resumed
- Automatically syncs across devices
Manual Time Entry
Sometimes you need to record time after the fact. Manual entries allow you to add time for:
- Meetings and calls
- Work done offline
- Forgotten timer starts
- Bulk entry of past work

Calendar View
The calendar provides a visual overview of your time entries. You can:
- View entries by day, week, or month
- Drag and drop to reschedule
- Click to edit entry details
- See total hours per day
Timesheets
Timesheets aggregate your time entries into weekly summaries that can be submitted for approval. The timesheet workflow includes:
- Draft - Entries are recorded but not submitted
- Submitted - Awaiting manager approval
- Approved - Timesheet is finalized
- Rejected - Changes requested by manager
Best Practices
- Start the timer as soon as you begin work
- Add descriptions to help remember what you worked on
- Link entries to specific tasks or tickets when possible
- Review and submit your timesheet weekly
