Browser Extension

Overview

The SimplyManage browser extension lets you track time from anywhere in your browser without switching to the SimplyManage app. Perfect for quick time entries and tracking on external websites.

Installation

Chrome / Chromium Browsers

1. Navigate to Extension in the SimplyManage sidebar
2. Click the Chrome Web Store link
3. Click Add to Chrome
4. Confirm the installation

Firefox

Firefox support coming soon. Check the Extension page for updates.

Initial Setup

1. Click the SimplyManage extension icon
2. Click Sign In
3. Enter your SimplyManage credentials
4. The extension is now connected to your account

Using the Timer

Starting the Timer

1. Click the extension icon in your toolbar
2. Select a project from the dropdown
3. Enter an optional description
4. Click Start Timer

Stopping the Timer

1. Click the extension icon
2. View the running timer details
3. Click Stop
4. Confirm or edit the entry

Tracking from Jira Pages

When viewing a Jira issue, the extension can auto-detect it:

1. Navigate to any Jira issue page
2. Click the SimplyManage extension icon
3. The issue key is pre-filled automatically
4. Select a project and click Start Timer

Tracking from GitLab Pages

Similar to Jira, GitLab pages are auto-detected:

1. Navigate to a GitLab issue or merge request
2. Click the extension icon
3. Issue/MR reference is pre-filled
4. Select project and start tracking

Quick Manual Entry

Add time entries without opening SimplyManage:

1. Click the extension icon
2. Switch to the Add Entry tab
3. Select project and enter duration
4. Add description and optional ticket reference
5. Click Save Entry

Extension Settings

Configure the extension behavior:

1. Right-click the extension icon
2. Select Options
3. Configure preferences:
   • Default project - Pre-select a project
   • Auto-detect URLs - Enable/disable context detection
   • Notifications - Timer reminders
4. Save changes

Data Synchronization

The extension syncs with your SimplyManage account:

• Projects and tasks are updated automatically
• Timer state syncs across devices
• Entries appear immediately in the web app

Troubleshooting

Extension Not Loading

• Refresh the page and try again
• Check that the extension is enabled
• Try disabling other extensions that might conflict

Login Issues

• Clear the extension data and log in again
• Ensure cookies are enabled for SimplyManage domain
• Check that you're using the correct credentials

Jira Not Detected

• Ensure you're on a Jira issue page (not board or backlog)
• Check that Jira integration is connected in settings
• Reload the Jira page

Uninstalling

1. Right-click the extension icon
2. Select Remove from Chrome
3. Confirm removal

Uninstalling the extension does not delete your SimplyManage data.
