Create and export detailed reports

Overview

This guide walks you through generating reports in SimplyManage. Learn how to configure filters, customize output, and export data for analysis.

Accessing Reports

  1. Navigate to Reports in the sidebar
  2. Select the type of report you want to generate
  3. Configure filters and options
  4. View or export the report

Info

Report access depends on your role. Users see only their own data, Managers see their team's data, and Admins see all organization data.

Generating a Time Report

  1. Go to ReportsTime Report
  2. Select the date range:
    • Today, Yesterday, This Week, Last Week
    • This Month, Last Month
    • Custom date range
  3. Apply additional filters:
    • Project - Specific projects
    • Team Member - Specific people
    • Client - Specific clients
    • Billable - Billable, non-billable, or all
  4. Choose grouping:
    • By Day
    • By Week
    • By Project
    • By Team Member
  5. Click Generate Report

Generating a Member Report

  1. Go to ReportsMember Report
  2. Select team members to include
  3. Select date range
  4. Choose metrics to display:
    • Total hours
    • Billable hours
    • Utilization percentage
    • Project breakdown
  5. Click Generate Report

Generating a Project Report

  1. Go to ReportsProject Report
  2. Select projects to include
  3. Select date range
  4. Choose metrics:
    • Hours by team member
    • Budget status
    • Task breakdown
    • Cost analysis
  5. Click Generate Report

Customizing Reports

Choosing Columns

Select which columns to include in the report:

  • Date and time
  • Project and task names
  • Team member
  • Duration
  • Description
  • Billable amount
  • Client

Sorting Data

Sort results by clicking column headers:

  • Date (newest first / oldest first)
  • Duration (highest / lowest)
  • Project (alphabetical)
  • Team member (alphabetical)

Exporting Reports

PDF Export

  1. Generate your report with desired filters
  2. Click ExportPDF
  3. Choose page layout (portrait/landscape)
  4. Include or exclude charts
  5. Download the PDF

CSV Export

  1. Generate your report
  2. Click ExportCSV
  3. Open in Excel, Google Sheets, or other spreadsheet software

Data Analysis

Export to CSV for advanced analysis in Excel or for importing into other business intelligence tools.

Saving Report Configurations

Save frequently used filter combinations:

  1. Configure your report filters
  2. Click Save Configuration
  3. Enter a name for this configuration
  4. Access saved configurations from the dropdown

Sharing Reports

Share reports with stakeholders:

  • Export and email - Download and send manually
  • Schedule delivery - Automatic email on schedule
  • Share link - Generate a view-only link (Admin)

Common Report Scenarios

Weekly Timesheet Summary

  • Filter: Last Week
  • Group by: Team Member
  • Include: Total hours, billable hours, project breakdown

Client Billing Report

  • Filter: This Month, specific client
  • Group by: Project
  • Include: Billable hours, rates, total amount

Project Status Report

  • Filter: Specific project, all time
  • Group by: Task
  • Include: Budget progress, hours by team member
